A Nanakuli family is celebrating Christmas a little early.
Our Lokahi Giving Project showered the family with presents Monday morning.
The first-time Lokahi recipients needed help after a medical condition changed their lives.
A miracle on Bishop Street, this Nanakuli family of seven who struggle to make ends meet now have more holiday presents than little 3 year-old Jacob can count.
"To see my kids having Christmas gifts this year is pretty amazing. We wasn't able to afford anything this year and there wasn't any gifts under the tree for them," said Raymond Johnson.
Raymond and Regina Johnson welcomed twins to the family 7 months ago, but times got tough after Israel was born with a hole in his heart and mom and baby had to fly to San Diego for surgery.
"Only daddy is working so living on one income is very, very hard so a lot of times we just have to pray," Regina says.
"We have been struggling trying to save his life," Raymond says.
The couple had seen what our Lokahi Giving Project did for other needy families in the past but never thought they would be on the receiving end of things.
"No, we, no we never even though that we'll be one," Regina says.
Luckily through Lokahi, the family was adopted by finance and staffing company Robert Half International, which stepped up to find their wish list items.
"I think this is what Christmas and the holidays is all about. It's to be able to share love and compassion with people that are less fortunate than us," said Liesl Bernard of Robert Half International.
Members of the staff and local companies who work with the recruitment firm donated dozens of gifts for the family in addition to more than $200 worth of gift cards.
"Now we are a family that got blessed with gifts for Christmas," said Raymond.
