Labor attorney Charles Khim has filed a lawsuit against the governor and state on behalf of two state workers who are getting laid off.He’s asking for a preliminary injunction.
The two plaintiffs are prison guards at Kulani Correctional Facility on the Big Island.
The prison is being closed next month to save the state money.
“The lawsuit is about the right to work in York vs. state of Hawaii the Supreme Court said everyone has right to work, and this is being infringed upon,” said Khim.
The hearing is scheduled for November 13th in front of Judge Sakamoto.
