HONOLULU (AP) - The state Senate Judiciary Committee has approved judicial nominations submitted by Gov. Linda Lingle and state Supreme Court Chief Justice Ronald Moon.

The committee voted unanimously Thursday to recommend the full Senate consent to the nominees. The Senate is expected to consider the choices Friday.

Lingle's selections of Jeannette Castagnetti, Colette Garibaldi and Faauuga Tootoo to circuit court positions were approved by the committee.

The panel, however, voted not to recommend a fourth Lingle nominee, that of Katherine Leonard to be chief justice of the Hawaii Supreme Court.

The committee also voted to recommend four nominees to the district court submitted by Moon: Sherri-Ann Iha, Steven Nakashima, Matthew Viola and Michael Tanigawa.
