On Friday the Senate gave its consent to seven judicial nominees.
District Court Judge Faauuga Tootoo was elevated to the position of circuit court judge by a vote of 20-0.
The Hawaii State Bar Association's Board of Directors had rated Tootoo "unqualified" to serve.
Two other circuit court nominees and four district court nominees were also approved.
