A new Vice Director for State Civil Defense has been named.

Lieutenant Colonel Doug Mayne, who retired from the Washington Army National Guard, was picked for the job following a nationwide search.

His resume includes disaster response work with the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA.

Mayne replaces former Vice Director Ed Teixeira, who stepped down in October after 12 years on the job, saying he did not agree with changes that were taking place.

Mayne starts his new job in March.

Does this guy know anything whatsoever about our unique state, esp. since he will be organizing & directing all disaster responses for the entire state?!! Our National Guard does not need bolstering (unless of course A.G.Wong has been misleading us about his capabilities)it is the Civil Defense aspect that lost the extremely capable person, Ed Texeira.
