HONOLULU (AP) - The three major gubernatorial candidates are saying the next governor should focus more attention on improving the state's information systems and fostering partnerships with the high tech industry.

Former U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie and former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann, both Democrats, and Republican Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona spoke Wednesday before the Hawaii Venture Capital Association.

The three contenders agreed that high tech is a rising economic sector in the state.

They each promised in different ways to consistently champion high tech businesses and projects, and to improve the state's educational system so it will generate graduates able to compete in that sector.

Maverick Hea... I would like to say only one thing Vote wisely and vote for someone New! You already know how Mufi operates and do you want more of the same song and dance! Track records speak for them selves...Under Mufi, Higher Taxes, More Law Suits and More Spending of your monies! Just look what he has done as Mayor...Dumped Raw Sewege into the Ala Wai and polluted Ala Moana Beaches, Failed to fix the Sewege problem and got sued & fined, hiden agenda on the Rail where total cost wasn't put out to the public, raised out Taxes to pay for the Rail project, Opala dumps spent monies to have Honolulu's Opala taken off Island this failed and the Opala sits on a storage site in Kapolei, Changed property zoning where resdential areas exist causing elderly folks not being able to afford their homes of 20 years or more and alot of Sue jobs that cost the tax payer. So now again what track record is Mufi talking about a vote for him will bankrupt the State if elected...Vote for anybody else and lets all improve our way of life!!!
