Jim Boersema has accepted the offer to be the governor's new communications director.

Boersema says he is the official communications director as of Sunday.

" I'm looking forward to hopefully doing something good for the people of Hawaii, the governor's office is the center of a lot of activities that impact the people of Hawaii."

Boersema is coming out of retirement to take on the position.

Previously he worked as communications director for state Senate Democrats.

He will replace Josh Levinson, one of four Abercrombie administration policy advisers to resign last week.

" I think this is a critical time for Hawaii and the whole country and everybody knows it's a difficult time so if anybody can chip in and help with the work, they should and that's what I agreed to do," he said.

Yes, we have an open and shut government. Open the door to the ones who are leaving the governor's office and then close it after the new ones come in until they are also ready to leave. That seems to be the hippy style and Governor Abercrombie says he likes it that way.

@1mansopinion: I couldn't vocalize that better than you did. These left-winged liberals (I call them nut-jobs) are destroying this state! I voted against Neil and I'm proud of it. I hope more people will follow suit come next election...

Hey folks, let's impeach gov gnome and let the elf run the state. That's what you get for voting in a troll as gov and a 15 year old Doogie Houser as lt. gov. What the heck do we do now? Occupy Hawaii....lol thats a great idea but it all starts with you, the voter! If you didn't vote then don't grumble! If you did vote then you must be in a union. Get your behind off the couch in 2012 and 2014 and VOTE them ALL OUT! You want "change" then change the way you vote! All new people in 2012 and 2014.

The way I see it, the young guys put Neil into office but can't control his mouth or actions, so out with the young and in with the old guys who may be able to salvage Neils reputation and gain peoples trust once again. For me, I lost it when Neil said that Gay Marriages would make more money for the State than the Pro Bowl. It's those one liners of ignorance I can't stand. Heaven help Jim Boersema!
