The city says it has been cleared of allegations that it broke the law when awarding contracts for the rail transit project.

According to city officials, a review by the State Procurement Office concluded the city did not violate the State Procurement Code in awarding contracts.

In May, former Governor Ben Cayetano and others filed a complaint with the Attorney General suggesting that the city had 72 possible violations.

Acting Mayor Kirk Caldwell says the time spent addressing the allegations was a waste of taxpayer money.

Maverick Hea... Who are we going to beleive, the acting mayor? I think not, because if the investigation dug deeper I'm sure they would have come up with all the under handed deals made by the X-Mayor. Meetings with no minutes...I wonder why, nothing written nothing for the tax payers to see! Caldwell shame on you brah you said you were born in Waipahu and raised on the Big Island...so why only now you are trying to do things? You had a lot of time to do good when Mufi was Mayor...but wait you couldn't because your boss wouldn't let you, after all he is bigger than you and he ruled with an iron hand. Nuff of the hidden agendas already and stop playing around with the tax payers money. You need to be on the up and up...stop the under handed deals that you are use too! Step down and let someone else do your job, because you have not!

Caldwell..... someone from your current position should not come out and simply say it was a waste of taxpayer's money. Any allegations should be looked into, its our money (Hawaii taxpayers) who need to feel secure that our money is being handled appropriately. Is it a waste of money to look into allegations from whistle blowers after reporting over time fraud and illegal dumping? If anything that saved taxpayers a lot of money. Although still no accountability is there? Thats yet another subject.
