Hawaii’s elections staff are in high gear getting ready for tomorrow’s General Election.Polling places are open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
There are fewer polling places this year due to consolidation but they are the same as where voters were assigned for the Primary Election.
As of last count, 146,000 people have already voted with more absentee ballots arriving by mail over the weekend and today.
But elections officials are still getting ready for a busy day at the polls tomorrow.
"On election day we still have to staff it like a regular day because we don't know how many people will actually show up on Election Day. We don't know how many people will take advantage of absentee voting,” said Office of Elections Chief, Scott Nago.
Anyone who did not yet mail their absentee ballot can drop it off at any polling place or county clerk's office tomorrow.
There will not be a State Capitol drop box this time.
The U.S. Department of Justice said Honolulu is among 30 areas nationwide where they will be sending polling place monitors.
Among other things they'll be looking to see if there are any problems with voting access based on race, language or disability.
