For the past 25 years, seniors have eagerly awaited the annual Senior Fair, the Good Life Expo. There will be two stages of entertainment all day long.
But more importantly, the Good Life Expo is a chance for seniors to find out what is available to them from public and private institutions.
"Well, I think it's a one stop event that everyone can get all the benefits for seniors at place and they can visit all the booths and not have to run all over town to get any services that they may need,” said Cathy Iwai.
The Senior Fair, Good Life Expo will run Friday through Sunday at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. Admission is free.
"8:30 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon. Those are senior hours. It's a very lively event where people come often because they know they're going to see their friends,” said Mike Rossell.
And in some cases, Rossell said, relatives they may only see once in a while.
Kokua Nurses is one of the sponsors of the senior fair and they will have a booth at the expo.
"And we provide services such as transportation, home care services, nursing services, even occupational and physical therapy in the comfort of the peoples homes,” said Iwai.
And that helps seniors age in place and that saves the families and the community hundreds of thousands of dollars every year.
For the past several years, a number of health maintenance organizations have offered flu shots for the seniors.
"The timing is perfect to offer flu prevention to a large number of people in a small amount of time very conveniently. We've been doing it now for seven or eight years. Last year we administered almost ten thousand flu shots at the show and we're going to try to beat that record again this year,” said Rossell.
Once again, the Senior Fair, Good Life Expo takes place Friday through Sunday at Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.
