The University of Hawaii at Manoa will hold its third “Take Back the Night” march and rally starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The event will mark progress on campus in the fight against violence, and toward gender equity.

The march will begin at 5 p.m. on Dole Street through the residence halls and end at Wainani Courtyard, then will return back to Frear Hall.

Marchers will then proceed to the Center for Hawaiian Studies for the 6 p.m. rally, speeches and performances.

“This is a celebration of our progress and of our continued dedication to safety—ending all forms of violence and promoting a culture that fully reflects women’s rights,” said organizer Fawn Jade Koopman, a student in the William S. Richardson School of Law.

“Take Back the Night” is a student-led initiative and a student-led coalition of the National Organization for Women-UH Chapter and Rape-Free Zone Coalition.
