Governor Lingle today also cast doubt on whether lawmakers will be able to arrange a special session to restore school days on furlough Fridays.A state senate committee convenes Friday to explore options.
The governor said she thinks solutions can be reached outside of the legislative process and that tapping any special funds before the regular session in January is premature.
The speaker of the house agrees.
Some state representatives say that won't stop them.
"Our numbers in the house are growing. A few days ago this was just an idea. And now we have people signing on, and we're hearing from the community more and more. Calls and emails are starting to come in, and pressure is building,” said Rep. Chris Lee.
Two-thirds of both the House and Senate have to agree to a special session in order for one to be called.
