Contest Rules

  1. No purchase necessary to win. Void where prohibited.
  2. The Contest is open to all legal residents of Hawaii and active duty military and their dependents stationed in Hawaii, who are 18 years of age and older as of 02/10/2010. Void where prohibited. Employees of Fresh Catch, VJ Entertainment, Alaska Air, Alaska Reel Adventures, and KHON-TV (hereinafter collectively referred to as “the Sponsors”) and its marketing agencies, their immediate families (parent, child, sibling and spouse) are not eligible to enter. The Contest is subject to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and their participation constitutes acceptance of the terms and conditions contained herein.
  3. Proof of age and residency will be required before prizes are awarded.
  4. Your Information. The information submitted by you during the registration process includes your name, email, and telephone number ("Personal Information") and will only be used by “the Sponsors” in accordance with applicable data protection regulations and the Privacy Policy of each of their websites, for the purposes of administrating your participation in the Contest.
  5. Beginning February 10, 2010 entry blanks will be available on-line via khon2.com.
  6. To obtain an entry blank from KHON2 without going on-line, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: “Fresh Catch & Hawaii Ocean Expo Poke Contest”, c/o KHON2, 88 Piikoi Street, Honolulu, HI 96814. Mail-in requests are limited to one entry blank per person.
  7. To qualify to win, contestants must fill out the on-line entry form in its entirety, and submit an ahi poke recipe or send a postcard with the required information. A primary contact number must be provided. Entries deemed by KHON2 to be partial, incoherent or nonsensical will be disqualified.
  8. Submitted Recipe. The recipe submitted must be an innovative ahi poke recipe. By entering the Contest, you expressly agree not to submit a recipe ("Submission") that is someone else’s recipe. Sponsors shall not be liable in any way for a Submission. Entries will be judged on taste & creativity.
  9. All completed entries must be submitted between 02/10/2010 to 02/21/2010, finalists will be chosen at the end of the submission period, on or around 2/22/10.
  10. Six (6) finalists will be notified by telephone.
  11. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received.
  12. One Winner will be selected to receive a round trip airfare for two (2) on Alaska Air and a 4-day/5-night fishing trip at Anchor Point Lodge or Shelter Lodge, includes accommodations from Alaska Reel Adventures. Trip to be used within the 2010 fishing season, round trip transportation from Juneau to Lodge, some travel restrictions apply. Winner responsible for all other ground transportation.
  13. Fishing package also includes all meals while at the lodge, 4 days guided boat fishing, fishing tackle & equipment, use of raingear & rubber boots, fish cleaning, freezing, and vacuum packaging, packing in airline approved wax coated fish boxes. Package does not include hotel stays enroute to lodge, alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, Alaska fish license & king salmon stamp, meals enroute to lodge, tips & gratuities. Package is subject to available dates.
  14. Except where prohibited, by entering this Contest, you consent to the use of your name, being, photo and/or likeness, and biographical information. Submission and statements attributed to you for advertising and promotional purposes may be used without additional compensation. As such, you hereby grant to Sponsor a non-exclusive, fully transferable, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty free, fully paid up right and license to adapt, edit, modify, publish, promote, reproduce, distribute, publicly display and perform and make derivative works based on your Submission in any and all media as Sponsors see fit for any reason, to identify you as the author of the Submission, and to authorize others to do any of the above without any obligation to compensate you.
  15. You represent and warrant to Sponsors that (i) you are the sole and exclusive creator of your recipe, or that you have all right and authority to grant the rights in the Submission to Sponsors described herein; (ii) you have obtained any and all releases necessary (if applicable) in the Submissions.
  16. The six (6) finalists will be featured in the KHON2 Morning News on Thursday, 2/25/10. Each finalist will have to prepare their poke recipe LIVE on the KHON2 Morning News with Manolo Morales. Fish will be provided by Fresh Catch. All other ingredients need to be provided by the finalists.
  17. The top three (3) poke recipe winners will be invited to the Hawaii Ocean Expo on Saturday, February 27, 2010 for a “People’s Choice” poke demonstration. Fish will be provided by Fresh Catch. All other ingredients need to be provided by the finalists. Finalists must check in at 12pm at the VJ Entertainment booth. Poke demonstration to begin at 1pm.
  18. By entering this giveaway, entrants accept and agree to be bound by the rules and decisions of this contest which are final, binding and conclusive on all matters relative to this promotion. Entry constitutes permission to use winner’s name, address, photograph of self, and/or voice recordings for publicity purposes without additional compensation or permission, except where prohibited by law. Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify entrants who fail to follow these official rules and regulations or who make any misrepresentations relative to the promotion, drawing and redemption of prizes.
  19. Winner may not substitute prizes unless stipulated in prize letter(s). Prizes are not transferable. All Federal, State, and Local taxes on prizes are the responsibility of the winner.
  20. “The Sponsors” and all of the agencies, companies, corporations, affiliates, subsidiaries, parents and related companies, successors and assigns, local corporate advertising cooperative and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents, including advertising and promotion agencies and the prize suppliers, from all advertisements are not responsible for any negligence, claims, liability, injury or property loss or other damages of winners arising from, or in connection with the prizes awarded or participation in this promotion.
  21. Employees of the Sponsors, their affiliates, subsidiaries, parents, and related companies, successors and assigns, local corporate advertising cooperatives and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents, including advertising and promotion agencies, the prize suppliers and all immediate family members (parents, siblings and spouses) are not eligible to win.
  22. Offer is subject to all applicable laws and regulations and is void where prohibited. Sponsors are not responsible or liable for lost, late, incomplete, misdirected, not received, stolen, mutilated, or illegible entries.

  24. KHON2 will award the winner all prize letters. The prizes are at the sole discretion of the Sponsors. Upgrades to the prizes are at the winner’s expense and responsibility. “The Sponsors” and any of the agencies, companies, corporations, affiliates, subsidiaries, parents and related companies, successors and assigns, local corporate advertising cooperative and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents, including advertising and promotion agencies and the prize suppliers, from all advertisements are not responsible for any negligence, claims, liability, injury or property loss or other damages of winner arising from, or in connection with upgrades and changes of the prizes.
  25. Winner is not eligible for this promotion if that winner has won a prize within the last 30-days from KHON2, Fresh Catch, VJ Entertainment or any of the participating sponsors in this current promotion. Winner must sign an acceptance letter attesting to all of the above.
  26. KHON2 and the contest sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any entrant at any time for any reason.
