HONOLULU (AP) - A car rental search site says renting a car in Honolulu during Christmastime will be nearly triple the usual going rate.
CheapCarRental.net released a survey that shows Honolulu ranks the most expensive city in the nation for December car rental rates.
The cheapest Honolulu rate the company found for Honolulu was $147 per day, compared with a regular average daily rate of $50.
Miami was ranked second at $111 per day.
The rankings are based on average rates for the cheapest available car from Dec. 23 through Dec. 28. For each city, the respective airport was chosen as the pickup and drop off location.
