Hawaiian Airlines led the airline industry in on-time performance in September.The Air Travel Consumer Report released by the United States Department of Transportation reported 94.1% of its flights arriving as scheduled.
Hawaiian also tied the industry's best record for fewest cancelled flights and fewest oversales.
There were just eight cancellations out of 5,904 total flights in September and zero involuntary denied boardings out of more than 2.2 million passengers served in the third quarter of 2009.
Hawaiian ranked third-highest in baggage handling during September, reporting 1.90 mishandled baggage reports for every 1,000 passengers served.
Through three quarters, Hawaiian ranked second overall at 1.95 mishandled baggage reports per 1,000 passengers.
Hawaiian ranked third in the category of consumer complaints in September, with the DOT recording two complaints out of more than 680,000 passengers served.
Hawaiian is the nation's largest provider of air service to Hawaii from the Western U.S., as well as the leading carrier for interisland service within the islands of Hawaii.
The DOT report covers 19 airlines, including nine carriers providing service to Hawaii.
