"Are we ready? Yeah, come on."
More than 2000 job seekers grabbed their resumes and donned their finest interview suits for a chance to fill 275 open flight attendant positions for Hawaiian Airlines.
"Good luck everybody."
With more than 4-thousand current employees, the largest in Hawaiian Airlines history, the airline continues to expand its reach adding service to Fukuoka, Japan in April and flights to New York City next summer.
"And over the next few years we also have these new airbuses that are coming in and between now and next June we will have 4 additional air buses," said Louis Saint-Cyr, vice president of in-flight service.
By mid-2012 the air carrier is expected to add approximately 400 new employees to its roster to fill positions for the new routes and additional interisland flights.
"The likelihood is that we will probably be conducting one or two more of these recruitment campaigns," said Saint-Cyr.
Pre-registered applicants were invited to group interviews Monday where a panel reviewed their creativity and customer service skills.
"Like points, each of us can share a point cause we all have to talk right?"
Each candidate comes from varying backgrounds with differing work experience but all are seeking the same goal.
"I flew in from la just to go for it its my third time in the last so many years trying cause its very competitive but I am hoping third time is the charm," said Ernie Munoz, a Los Angeles resident.
"I think everyone brings something special to the table regardless of age if you are young or old its all about what you can bring to this company," said Alana Johnson, Kailua resident.
