The Hawaii Tourism Authority says visitor spending rose 15.1 percent to $11.3 billion during the first 11 months of 2011.

Tourism officials say they anticipate ending this year with year-over-year growth in visitor spending.

In November, air seat capacity from Japan increased 10.5 percent due to increased service and an additional 5,796 charter seats to Hawaii.

The HTA says average daily spending from Japanese visitors also increase, resulting in a 20 percent growth in visitor spending.

The HTA says growth from these markets are helping to offset the drop in spending from the U.S. West and U.S. East that may be attributed to an increase in prices.

Officials say the direct impact of November’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit is currently being analyzed.

Inflation. Pay raises, union dues going up. Someone has to pay for all this. Not making anything cheaper for Tourists to come to Hawaii. Tourists may pay more if Rail is built.
