Local gas prices declined again for the 10th straight week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today, the statewide average for regular unleaded is $4.03 a gallon, three cents less than a week ago.
Honolulu’s average price declined over the past week by four cents from $3.92 to $3.88 a gallon. That price is 11 cents less than a month ago and 39 cents higher than this time last year. In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.19 a gallon, a penny less than last week, 12 cents less than last month and 60 cents higher than this time last year. Wailuku’s average is $4.35 a gallon, three cents less than last week, eight cents less than last month and 37 cents higher than on this date last year.
Hawaii continues to have the most expensive gas in the U.S. at $4.03 a gallon, followed by Alaska with a $3.91 state average and California at $3.53. The national retail average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $3.21, four cents less than last week.
