Kathy has been with the KHON2 news team since April 2007.
In October of 2009, Kathy became the weekend weather anchor for Hawaii at 6 and 10, allowing her to spend more time with her twins.
Before moving to the weather board, Kathy co-anchored Hawaii's Morning News with Kirk Matthews.
Born and raised on Oahu, Kathy is the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Kaiser High School and lived in Japan for three-and-a-half years, working in television and radio. Soon after earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Hawaii, she began her career in broadcast news at KITV in 1991.
Throughout her first nine years at KITV, she rose through the ranks from being an intern, associate producer, general assignment reporter and co-anchor of Good Morning Hawaii for the last 4years.
Kathy then moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she was a news writer for FOX station WJW. In 2001, Kathy returned to Hawaii and after three years, she pursued a freelance career as an environmental project coordinator for Grove Farm Co. and assistant to the program director for the Children's Justice Center of Oahu, where she had been a long time volunteer.
Kathy continues to be heavily involved as a volunteer for the Polynesian Voyaging Society, the Children's Justice Center and the Children's Alliance of Hawaii. Among her interests, she enjoys one-person canoeing, running, working out, movies and reading non-fiction.
