Water is the elixir of life - but we are having more problems all the time making sure that water is pure.
Water - vital to life. But how can we be sure the water we are drinking is as pure as it can be?
"Population densities grow and water is becoming, having clean water is becoming more and more of an issue, that having filtered water or a filtration system in your home is becoming more and more important," said Bruce Okimoto of the Hawaii Home Expo.
Hawaii Home Expo markets a water filtration system called Everpure.
"Our combination of accordion filtered membrane and micro-pure coating results in incredibly consistent performance. What's more, our exclusive pre-coat filtration removes off-tastes, odors, and particles as small as one half-micron in size," Okimoto says.
Everpure also filters out asbestos and lead. It's not just for residential use.
"Everpure is used throughout at every Starbucks and McDonalds here in the United States," Okimoto says.
The basic system costs roughly four hundred dollars - but there are accessories that you may find useful.
"For your home you can get these devices that are chillers, some of them are for hot water and also you can introduce carbonated water into the system as well," Okimoto says.
Sooner or later, a filter will break down. The filtration system comes with a unique accessory.
"They recommend that you change the filter every year. So after about 12 months, this thing will start to beep. So it's a great way to know that you should be changing your filter," Okimoto says.
